Our History
Phelps Cement Products, a cornerstone in the Western New York market since 1946 has served the greater Rochester and Finger Lakes
area in the manufacturing of concrete masonry units and related building products. Phelps Cement Products has supplied their
products to developers, contractors, home builders and homeowners in the construction of major commercial buildings, schools
and homes throughout the Monroe County, Ontario County, Wayne County, Yates County and the Finger Lakes area for over seventy
years.
Three generations of the Haers family, starting with the founder Philemon Haers have lead Phelps Cement Products for almost
30 years. In 1975. his three sons, Gerald, Phillip and Michael took over the growing business. The sole surviving son, Gerald,
handed over the business to his two sons, Jerry and Justin in 2012 and they have been running the company since that time.
The backbone of the Phelps Cement Products business since the beginning has been quality standard building blocks, but innovation
is a key to the company’s success. In 2016, Phelps Cement Products launched a new division, JH Coatings LLC which specializes
in waterproofing and basements. During the past year, the company has expanded the product line to include Nicolock Pavers,
Omni Block and Monarch Egress Wells and Windows. With over 9800 products available and millions of concrete blocks produced
each year, Phelps Cement is the local leader, serving builders and homeowner in providing many name brands and locally produced items.
Since the first day of business, Phelps Cement Products has been located on twenty plus acres of land on South Newark Street
in the village of Phelps. Seventy-one years later and in the years to come, Phelps Cement Products will continue to be an integral
part of the Phelps community.
